About damage calculations

In a skill description it says some thing like "deal _____ damage based on ____" How is this calculated? Is there a formula? Like how much better is extreme then regular or insane then heavy? Also how are stacks of status affects calculated? And in equipment descriptions and some skills, there are other things based on other stuff like shield or health or stacks of a certain affect or hit number. How does this work?

I'm going to be changing it to actually say the percentage at some point. The damage multipliers are:

VERY_LOW_DAMAGE = 20
LOW_DAMAGE = 24
MEDIUM_DAMAGE = 28
HIGH_DAMAGE = 32
VERY_HIGH_DAMAGE = 36
EXTREME_DAMAGE = 40
INSANE_DAMAGE = 50

Then you multiply the damage multiplier by the attribute to get the base damage.

Each type of status effect has it's own method of calculating stacks. For example, bleeding stacks are 1/10th of the damage and burning stacks are 1/500th of the damage.

For your last question, do you think you could list the equipment and skills you're curious about? I'm not really sure which ones you're referring to.
