Why name female boss as male God rather than female equivalent?

Cupid is, in mythology, male. Venus or Aphrodite would have been much better naming choices… None of this did I need to look up, high school humanities class in small town Oklahoma dozens of years ago. Why I'm saying that is, it's not as though it's uncommon knowledge or anything difficult to learn. I was previously paid subscriber but there's so much wrong in the game I don't find it worth paying for, as I told my husband this morning when he asked if I'd like subscription as a Valentine's Day gift. What comes from the subscription is so little and the issues are so numerous and often glaring, that TBH I'm finding myself playing less often because it's becoming less enjoyable to play!
