Jacko Ability Ideas

Posted by CrazyCobra on March 23, 2023

I have a few ways you could spice up Jacko's abilities.

1. Make shadow strike attack multiple targets. Right now, shadow strike seemes pointless as trick is much stronger.

2. What if treat was reworked to put bait on the ground. The next pet to attack it would get drugged. This would greatly decrease speed and intelligence. Then, replace shadow strike with a leeching ability that only works when its target is drugged. The ability would do a small amount of damage and heal jacko significantly. Maybe call it Meal of the Spider or something. Lol!

3. Maybe make treat give a random effect on jacko.

Those were a few ideas I came up with. Thoughts?

Those are some good ideas. I like the idea of a spider living inside Jacko. haha I wrote these ideas down and I'll play around with them when I get some free time. Thanks!

No problem! I admit I was struggling for a name for the leeching ability. I wanted it to be halloween themed while illustrating what it did. Meal of the Spider sorta works, but I wish I could think of a better name! lol!

On a completely different subject, how difficult is it to enter the alexa skill making world? I want to try my hand at it, but I'm not sure where to start.

I actually really like the spider name. I may have to make an evolution based on the spider idea where Jacko dies and the spider is dragging him around like a hermit crab. haha

If you have backend web development experience, developing for Alexa is pretty simple. There's a little bit of a learning curve, but it's really not too bad. Basically, you get a json request and have to return a json response with what she needs to say/do. They have made a speech markup language called SSML that allows you to do things like make the device speak in different voices, play an mp3 file, and all kinds of other stuff. It's a lot of fun developing for Alexa and I think it's a great time to get into it. I believe that we're still in the very early stages of voice assistants and they're just going to become more useful and more powerful every year.

Wow! I will do some research and maybe you'll see a skill from me soon! I know you have in game purchases, but do people buy them often? Could I theoretically make a career out of skills?

Jacko, spectra, screamy, and slimebat are all related to each other. These pets came from an especially dark place I bet. If you decide to add different terains and climates and have different pet elements be more likely to show up in certain areas with fire pets in deserts, ice pets in cold places, and so on, you could place shadow pets in dark places where shadows are the most abundant. Maybe in the deepest parts of gloomy forests or deep underground. The spectra could even be found most near ruins. Will you add an explanation as to how gacha pets were created in the world, or will this game be primarily a colecting and battling game?

A fanfic on this game could be interesting.

@CrazyCobra Yep, people do indeed purchase ISPs. Amazon also has a few great perks for Alexa skill developers. They give you AWS credits to help pay your hosting bills, and there's also a rewards program that pays out depending on how many people use your skill and how much they use it. I believe we will soon get 10% of our revenue back as promotional ad credits too. I can't wait for that!

CrazyCobra embarrassing to say you’re not the first one who had thought of this weird idea Not the one about Jacko, but… The other one, that potato in front of you went as far as to create a synopsis
But you guys need not worry, I will only further elaborate after I’m done mentally kicking about how foolish a thing it is, that means no sooner than 2050

lol! @malero That is exciting! Is this your career or a side project?

Reply by Digital Hokum Staff Replymalero on March 27, 2023

@crazycobra This is a side project. It's getting more and more popular as time goes on and I'd love for it to be my full-time job. I absolutely love working on it.
